How do I record something I bought for someone else?

Add an expense with yourself as the payer and only the person you bought it for as a participant. You record the payment, and their share covers the purchase. If you also shared the purchase, include yourself too.

What to do

   In the group, add an expense with a title, amount, currency and date. Select yourself as the payer.

2. 2

   Choose the equal split, tap Nobody and select only the person you bought it for. Leave yourself unselected if none of the purchase was for you.

3. 3

   Save and check the balances. For a €20 purchase only for a friend, their share is €20 and yours is zero. When they repay you, record that repayment separately with Settle Up.
