Getting startedHow do I start a group with friends?
Create a group, add the people sharing costs and send them its invite link. A person you add is not automatically a signed-in account.
Getting startedCan I try a group like mine before signing up?
Open the demo menu and choose Family, Trip, Home, Couple, Event, Project or Oktoberfest. Each sample has its own purchases, people, balances, totals, notes and activity. No sign-in is needed.
Getting startedHow do I add or correct an expense?
Record what was actually bought, who paid and who shared it. The payer and the participants can be different people.
Expenses & balancesCan we split a bill unequally?
Yes. Choose equal amounts, exact amounts, percentages, shares or adjustments. The final participant amounts must add up to the expense.
Expenses & balancesHow do I record something I bought for someone else?
Add an expense with yourself as the payer and only the person you bought it for as a participant. You record the payment, and their share covers the purchase. If you also shared the purchase, include yourself too.
Expenses & balancesHow do I record a personal purchase in a group?
Record an expense in that group with yourself as both the payer and the only participant. It remains visible to the group and counts in its spending total, but creates no new debt for friends: you paid your own full share.
Expenses & balancesHow do I see shared spending without personal purchases?
Choose For several people in Expenses or Totals. A purchase is for one person when only one participant has a share, even if someone else paid or several people paid.
Expenses & balancesA friend gave me cash. Is that an expense?
Use a transfer when money moves between people without a purchase. It changes what they owe each other but does not increase the group's spending.
Expenses & balancesHow does Settle Up work?
Settle Up records a repayment that happened outside WeSplit. It does not send money or charge a card. A settlement reduces debt without increasing spending.
Expenses & balancesWhy do I still owe money when I paid a lot?
Your balance compares what you paid with your share of purchases, then includes transfers and repayments. Paying the bill is different from bearing its entire cost.
Expenses & balancesWhy am I paying someone different?
With Simplify debts enabled, repayments can be redirected to reduce the number of transfers. Each person's net balance stays the same; the repayment route can change.
Expenses & balancesHow much did I personally pay today?
Paid by me counts your actual payments for purchases. My expenses counts purchases you participated in. These answer different questions and are not your net balance.
Expenses & balancesHow do I find a particular day's expenses?
Expenses are grouped by day, newest first, with daily subtotals. Available date filters follow the dates recorded in your group.
Your groupCan I switch a transaction off without deleting it?
Yes, if temporary exclusions are enabled in group Settings. Excluded transactions remain visible but do not participate in calculations.
Your groupCan we track cash and card payments?
Enable cash/card tracking for the group to record how each payer paid. This adds a breakdown to totals without changing anyone's share or debt.
Your groupHow do we finish and lock an event?
Finish event freezes new spending so everyone can check the final costs and settle. The group closes once its exact debts in every currency are settled.
Your groupIs Group PRO a subscription? Who pays for it?
Group PRO is a one-time purchase for one group, shared by its members. Check the final price and currency on the purchase screen. It is not a recurring subscription.
Account & appWhere do friends get the 50% invite discount?
There is no code to type. The discount comes with your personal invite link: anyone who opens it and creates a new account gets 50% off one Group PRO purchase, applied automatically at checkout. You get the same discount for each new account made with your link, up to 5.
Account & appI paid for PRO, but it isn't active. What now?
PRO depends on a confirmed payment, not just returning from checkout. A delayed confirmation or a different account/group can explain a missing badge. The assistant cannot confirm your payment or issue a refund.
Getting startedCan I scan a receipt instead of typing it?
A receipt scan can suggest the merchant, currency, total and items. Always check the result before saving; recognition can misread a receipt.
Account & appWhy am I not getting notifications?
The in-app notification center works separately from device push permission. Expense notifications concern new purchases you participate in, added by someone else. Existing expenses do not generate new notifications merely because you enabled push.
Account & appHow do I get my account on another phone?
Use a sign-in method linked to the same account. Creating a new profile does not restore the old profile's groups.
Account & appCan I install WeSplit and use it with weak internet?
WeSplit is a web app you can add to your Home Screen. Recently loaded group data can remain available offline, and supported new expense entries can wait to sync. You still need a connection for sign-in, payments and features that contact the server.
