A friend gave me cash. Is that an expense?
Use a transfer when money moves between people without a purchase. It changes what they owe each other but does not increase the group's spending.
What to do

When adding a transaction, choose Transfer. Select who sent the money and who received it.

Record the amount and currency. If a friend gave you €500, that friend is the sender and you are the recipient.

Record later purchases separately with the person who physically paid. Do not record the same cash handover as another expense.
