Why do I still owe money when I paid a lot?

Your balance compares what you paid with your share of purchases, then includes transfers and repayments. Paying the bill is different from bearing its entire cost.

What to do

   Check who paid and who participated in each expense. A €90 purchase shared by three gives each a €30 share.

   Check transfers too. Cash received from a friend changes your balance even if you later used that cash for purchases.

   Keep each currency separate unless group exchange rates are set. Paid by me shows physical spending; Balances shows the net debt.
